Baby it's cold outside in New Jersey, but we play hot music! Here's a remixed video of The Mad Slap Tones performing the vintage classic "Jambalaya (on the Bayou)" by Hank Willams from our gig at the Turtle Back Zoo stage.
This cool song was first released in 1952 by Williams, named for that super yummy cajun dish, Jambalaya. And if you have ever eaten that, you know it has a kick to it.
We love playing this song, while it's simple in chord structure, it has a jump'n rhythm to it, which is held down by our super cat drummer, Charles, and our bass man, Mike. This song allows lots of space for both Sheldon (on keys) and Jim (on guitar) to do some fun solos.
This song has been recorded by so many artists over the years (Brenda Lee, Fats Domino, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Carpenters, Harry Connick, Willie Nelson, and many more).
We hope you get in a party/festive mood with our version!
